When was the last time your had one? I went to the bank the other day to make a deposit and there were tow tellers engaged in some obviously good small talk and they were laughing it up.
It was good just to see people taking a moment to just find the humor in something.
As I approached the teller's window, the teller greeted me and stated "Good, morning!" "Don't mind me and the other tellers, we were just having a good laugh" she said.
I replied "there's no harm in a little laughter.
" When was the last time you had a good laugh? We take things so seriously, in business, life and especially in the church.
I realize that times are tough.
People are losing jobs, companies are closing, marriages and families are in trouble.
We are missing the moment, to have a moment to find humor in anything.
A portion of my life experiences ( a part) come from my involvement in the church.
I could not help but to be concerned about a friend after seeing him and I asked him, how are you? When he paused to formulate his answer, his long pause spoke volumes to me.
It is definitely possible to be member of a church and still be isolated and discouraged.
Wow, where are those so desperately desiring to do ministry and missionary work? The mission field is right here in the very pews we sit in Sunday after Sunday.
When was the last time you had a good laugh in the church? Or, is the church service to sacred and religious to be human, to show sadness, fear or loneliness? Church members can be so "deep and spiritual" that people experiencing fear, sadness, loneliness and problems in their home, will think twice about approaching someone who appears to be super spiritual or untouchable by the problems of everyday life.
You know them, you hear them most ever Sunday when they say, "I'mtoo blessed to be stressed" or "I'm blessed of the Lord" Laughter is good for you.
Although some things may not be a laughing matter, you must give yourself a moment, a reprieve from a moment of trouble and negativity.
A smile is something that will lift a person, for a moment, from their bad day, shouldn't Christians have something to smile about? Are we not able to bring a little ray of hope and sunshine into the lives of the people we touch and come in contact with? Have yourself a good laugh today, take a break from being so serious, absorbed in your trouble, sad and stressed.
"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones".
Proverbs 17:22
