How to Change the Headlights on a 2003 Trail Blazer

    • 1). Remove the grill from the front of you Trailblazer. Work around the edges of the grill and snap the clips loose that retain it. Set the grill aside in a safe place.

    • 2). Locate the two retaining tabs located on the top of the headlight assembly. Press down on the two clips and slide the headlight assembly forward.

    • 3). Remove the wiring harness connector from the back of the headlight assemble by releasing the locking tab and pulling the connector free. Remove the parking light and side marker light from the assembly by turning the sockets counterclockwise; pull them straight out.

    • 4). Slide the headlight assembly out of the truck. Remove the access panel from the rear of the headlight assembly using a Phillips screwdriver to remove the retaining screws. Disconnect the electrical connector from the headlight bulb.

    • 5). Turn the bulb counterclockwise and remove the bulb. Insert the new headlight bulb into the housing. Connect the electrical connector and reinstall the access cover. Insert the retaining screws and tighten them with a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 6). Slide the headlight assembly back into the truck and insert the side marker and parking lights into the housing. Turn the sockets clockwise to lock them into place.

    • 7). Install the headlight wiring harness connector into the headlight assembly, making sure it snaps into place. Engage the retaining clips that secure the headlight assembly into the truck. Repeat this process on the opposite headlight.

    • 8). Position the grill back on the front of the truck and snap it into the retaining clips. Turn on the headlights to ensure they are both working.
