- 1). Wipe off the area where the neon light is to be mounted. If you neon light uses screw style attachments, drill out the screw holes on the rear dash, bumper or running boards and screw the light into position. If your light uses double-sided sticky tape, peel the tape cover off the bottom of the light and then press the neon light bar into position.
- 2). Open the battery pack of the neon light if the light is a battery powered unit. Add the batteries, close the panel and turn the light on to test.
- 3). Run the red and black 12V wires from the attachment points on the neon light bar --- attaching the red wire to the red terminal on the light and the black to the black.
- 4). Attach the wires to a toggle switch. Strip some of the wire housing off --- about an inch --- and screw the wires to the toggle switch.
- 5). Run another set of wires --- red and black --- from the toggle switch under the dashboard and into the engine compartment, all the way to the battery. Attach the red wire to the red terminal and the black to the black. Let the ground wire on the black 12V wire casing hang loose or tape it to the metal side of the auto hood.
- 6). Cover any exposed parts of the wires with black electric tape. Zip tie the wires to the sides of the auto frame to keep it up and out of the way.
- 7). Flip the toggle switch to the "On" position to turn the neon light bar on.
