- 1). Open the front cover of the printer. Press the "Push" mark on the ink tank to make sure it is installed securely.
- 2). Check the ink cartridge to make sure all the orange tape is peeled off the cartridge.
- 3). Verify the paper you are using is selected under "Media Type." Go to "Start," select "Control Panel," then "Printers and Other Hardware" and then "Printers and Faxes." Click the icon for the i9900, then go to "File" and select "Printing Preferences." This opens the "Printer Properties" box. You can find "Media Type" under the "Main" tab.
- 4). Align the print heads. Go to the "Printer Properties" box and click the "Maintenance" tab. Select "Custom Settings," then check the box next to "Align heads manually" and click "Send." Click "OK" when a confirmation message is displayed. Click "Print Head Alignment," and click "Print Head Alignment" again when the conformation message is displayed. Click "Yes" after the pattern is printed. Enter the numbers for the most even, least irregular patterns in the "Print Head Alignment" box, and click "OK."
- 5). Clean the print heads. Turn the printer on and hold the "Resume/Cancel" button until the "Power" lamp flashes once. It takes about one minute to clean the print heads.
- 6). Verify the paper is loaded into the printer with the print side up.
- 7). Ensure "Print Quality" is set to "High." Go to the "Printer Properties" box, then click on the "Main" tab and select "High" for the "Print Quality" setting.
- 1). Turn the printer off for at least 15 minutes in case the print head has overheated from too much printing.
- 2). Wait until the previous print job is done if you are printing high-resolution photographs before you start the next job.
- 3). Verify that your USB cable is not longer than 16.4 feet.
- 4). Go to "Start," then "Control Panel" and then "Printers and Faxes." Click the non grayed-out printer if you see two printer icons. This happens if you changed the USB port that your cord is connected to.
- 1). Ensure the paper you are printing on is not too thick or curled.
- 2). Clean the paper feed roller. Empty any paper loaded into the printer, hold the "Resume/Cancel" button down and release it after the "Power" lamp flashes three times. Repeat this procedure twice, then load paper into the printer and repeat it two more times.
- 3). Verify there are no foreign objects in the feeder. If you see any, unplug the printer and then try to remove the object.
- 4). Pull any jammed paper out of the printer from either the auto sheet feeder or the paper output slot. If you cannot get the paper out, turn the printer off and back on. The remaining paper will be ejected.
