People who are possessive treat you like one of their prized possessions.
Somehow they lose sight of you as a living breathing person and consider you are their private property and anybody else in your life even friends have to be approved of.
Once you have committed to a partner like this normal interaction with other people will be a threat to the possessive partner.
You could be saying hi to one of your friends and your partner may see it as you were being romantically interested in them.
After a while most people would get sick of this and begin to feel they could not do anything without being interrogated by their possessive partner.
.
Having someone you care about on your back constantly can turn the most independent person into a shadow of there former self as they give in to unreasonable demands.
So how must it feel for the person who is possessive? Trying to keep track of their partners moves would be exhausting if it was not for the fact that they are quite driven in their nature to be vigil.
It could be possible that someone becomes like this because an ex partner cheated on them and their feelings were never resolved.
So they go into the next significant relationship with fear that it could happen again.
They then find themselves jealous and uptight whenever their much-loved partner appears to be having a good time with someone they like.
Being with a possessive person is a no win situation.
Partners leave when they feel their independence and identity are being sucked up into a human vortex that infringes on their every action.
If the problem is not resolved the feelings of possessiveness can escalate out of control and stalking may not be out of the question.
If you see any of these signs in a new partner you need to evaluate how important this person is to you.
If you can prompt them to get some counselling the problem and origin can be addressed and possibly balance restored.
