- 1). Unfasten the nut around the negative battery cable with a pair of pliers. Remove the cable from the battery. Wait 10 minutes before proceeding; this allows the airbag system to discharge. Set the parking brake.
- 2). Pull off the two plastic plugs on either side of the console. These plugs are at the front part of the console, near the dash. Remove the two Phillips screws behind the plugs.
- 3). Grasp the front-console side panels. Lift them up to remove them.
- 4). Twist the shift knob to the left to remove it from the shifter. Grasp the ashtray/cupholder insert behind the shifter. Lift it up and remove it from the console. Remove the two Phillips screws underneath.
- 5). Open the storage compartment on the rear part of the console. Remove the two floor-mounted Phillips screws inside.
- 6). Pry off the radio-trim panel with a trim tool. Behind the panel, you'll see the two Phillips screws that attach the console to the radio stack. Remove them.
- 7). Lift the front part of the console. Unplug the connection underneath. Lift the rear part of the console, then lift the entire assembly from your Eclipse.
