- 1). Turn off your phone and remove the battery cover from the back of the phone.
- 2). Remove the battery from your phone. Underneath the battery, you will see the SIM card. The card is a couple of centimeters long and wide, and will have your service provider's logo on it.
- 3). Remove the SIM card from the phone. The SIM card will either be snugly fit underneath place holders in the phone, or it will be clipped in place. Either slide the card out of place or unclip the latch holding it in place and it will fall out.
- 4). Plug your SIM card reader into your computer. The SIM card reader is a small device usually the size of a flash drive, and it plugs into your computer's USB port.
- 5). Insert the CD that came with your device and install the necessary software. Some SIM card readers are "plug-in-play," which means they don't come with an installation CD. All software and drivers are loaded on the device itself and will sync with your computer once the reader is plugged in.
- 6). Insert your SIM card into the SIM card reader. Consult the user's manual for your specific device to see how to insert the SIM card. The card will only fit one way, so don't force it if it's not going in. The tip of the SIM card may pop out of the device a little when it's fully inserted, so know the instructions for your specific device.
- 7). Open your SIM card reader's program on your computer. Either you inserted a CD, or this program downloaded to your computer once you plugged in the device. It should have launched as soon as it was installed, but if not, you can find it in your computer's "Programs" folder.
- 8). Select the items on your SIM card you want to view. Most programs break the card's contents down into calls, texts, and data. Each program runs differently, but it will be easy to navigate through your SIM card's content once it's connected to your computer.
- 9). Close out of the program after you've read all the content you wanted to read, and click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system control panel.
- 10
Select your device from the list and then select "Stop." - 11
Unplug your SIM card reader from your computer as soon as you're prompted to do so. - 12
Pull the SIM card out of the SIM card reader. - 13
Insert the SIM card back into your phone. Line up the gold chip on the card with the sensors in your phone. The SIM card will only fit one way, so don't force it. - 14
Insert the battery into your phone and replace the battery cover. Turn your phone back on.
