So what is the devil's dirtiest trick?
To keep you deceived! Self-deception is so horrible. It's thinking that you are right and when you are wrong! It's thinking that God is mad at you when He is not! It's thinking you are not forgiven by God when you are!
Here's the deal.
When you ask Jesus to come into your heart to be your Lord and Savior, you repent of your sins and ask Him to forgive you of them. To repent means to change your way of thinking to line up with God's way of thinking and doing things. You are saying you want to do things God's way.
Your Past is Crushed!
No matter what you have done in your past (NO MATTER WHAT), God forgives you on the spot, Jesus comes into your heart, and at that moment, your past is literally crushed! God has forgiven you of ALL your sins and wiped your slate as white as snow.
What does that mean for you???
It means that when Satan comes to remind you of your past and what you did, and he tries to whisper that that's who you still are, you need to realize that his is the voice of a stranger that you will not follow. Look at what Jesus said below:
John 10:27 "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."
John 10:5 " But they will never follow a stranger. They will run away from him because they don't know his voice."
The voice of the stranger (enemy) will definitely come in the way of thoughts, or even someone speaking to you. Decide that you WILL NOT LISTEN to those voices or thoughts.
How can you tell if it is God speaking or the enemy?
If the voice or thought you are thinking does not encourage you, lift you up, or edify you, but instead makes you feel worthless, depressed, angry or fearful, it is the stranger's voice (enemy's voice), that you must NOT follow. Pay close attention to this and let it bring you closer to God EVERY time! Just say, "Lord, thank you that I am Yours, and You are mine, and I will not follow the stranger's voice." Thank you, Lord, that I am the man or woman that you want me to be, in Jesus' name." That attitude will crush your enemy every time!
You must know the truth.
Your past is CRUSHED and NOT REMEMBERED at all by God. God wants you to start writing NEW pages in your book. What do you want God to remember about you starting today? Just start living that way today.
If you want a brand new start, ask Jesus to come into your heart today, ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and ask Him to be your Lord and Savior. Lord meaning you will allow Jesus to govern your life and the things you do. You want to obey His ways of doing things. Jesus being your Savior means you will have eternal life with Him after this earthly life. It's going to be AWESOME!
