Christian outreach is like a bridge that leads people to the real source of satisfaction and significance. Outreach is not an end but a means of leading lost souls to God.

The main reason for doing outreach is God's love. He is offering His love to the lost by using His people to reach out to them by: feeding them when they are hungry, giving them water when they are thirsty, clothing them when they are naked, etc. It entails a lot of sacrifice on those who are willing to take part in this ministry.

Second, outreach is doing the mission Jesus did while He was on earth. It means servanthood and giving glory to God the Father. This entails selflessness and meekness. It is like a signpost that guides the weary and wandering traveler. Failing to acknowledge these reasons for doing outreach may be a hindrance to its success and effectivity.

It is then very important to put God at the center of Christian outreach in order to have a lasting and effective result. Moreover, it is always best to seek God's guidance and direction before doing the outreach and while implementing it until its completion.

Here are some helpful tips to follow.

First, seek God's direction for every step and do exactly what He says. Since God is the origin of good works, He alone knows what is best for every situation. He knows all things and sees the hearts of individuals. He also sees the end from the beginning.

Second, seek God's help for He has promised to be there all the time. When God send His people to do a task, He goes along with them and offers His help in time of need. He is Jehovah Jireh.

Then, be patient and wait on the Lord. Do not go ahead of His timing. When it seems that God is silent, do not take it as He is not doing anything. His delays are not meant to be denials. He is wise and He knows just what to do.

In addition be sensitive to His voice. God speaks in many ways. Listen to what He says through the Scriptures, prayer, circumstances and other people. When one is attuned to God, he/she will not miss God's still small voice of truth.

Moreover, depend purely on God. Sometimes what He is saying may be different from what is practical. Always honor His words; His thoughts are higher than human wisdom. Humility is an element that one has to master in times like this. Depending on one's reasoning may most of the time miss God's best.

In addition, obey God. In this way, the ministry is not only going to flourish but one's spiritual relationship will also blossom and it will be evident in the Christian's life. Obedience is a virtue that will make impossible things possible.

Finally, take time to regularly evaluate and ask for God's wisdom and direction for the following steps. As one looks back after every step, one is all the more encouraged to move on in faith as he/she sees God's grace and wisdom displayed.

Applying these tips in every stage of the outreach ministry will surely bring great and fruitful results.
