It is the same in relationships; we want the right person.
And so in our search for a partner we concentrate on meeting Mr.
/Miss.
Right.
The belief is that if we are able to find the right person we shall have a successful relationship.
But a successful relationship won't be possible if both partners who have committed themselves to the relationship are not ready to work on themselves as Mr.
/Miss.
Right.
Instead of searching for Mr.
/Miss.
Right, I believe each person must concentrate on working on himself/herself to be the right person; this begins by building our relationships in God.
The most experienced is God when it comes to relationships.
He is the author of relationships, and so to succeed in our relationships with others it is important to begin with the originator of relationships-God.
From Adam through to you, everything about God has been His relationship with man and the universe.
When you identify yourself with God, you acquire a lasting foundation-Jesus Christ-on which you can build your relationship with others.
Such a relationship lasts long because the foundation on which it is built embodies the essence of relationships-love.
God is love, and love lasts long (1 Cor.
13:8a); therefore, if your relationship is built on Jesus Christ, it will last long.
Identifying yourself with God also helps you develop enduring attitudes that are essential for growth in any relationship: love, forgiveness, sincerity, kindness, giving, faithfulness, patience, etc.
When we accept Jesus Christ into our lives, we acquire an uncreated life, the divine life of God, which is eternal life.
This kind of life is able to help us tame the human tendencies and fleshly desires.
By that we are able to forgive easily when our partners offend us; we are able to love without conditions; we are able share willingly the things that we have; and we are able to live in unity despite our differences.
These help to build a strong and lasting relationship.
By identifying yourself with God, you will not only be preparing yourself to be the right person for your future spouse, but you will be laying the foundation for a successful relationship.
