- 1). Cut power to the existing light switch at the fuse box of the mobile home.
- 2). Remove the switch plate from the wall by taking out the screws. Take out the screws at the top and bottom of the switch so you can pull it out from the electrical box. It will still be connected to wires.
- 3). Note the configuration of the wiring to the old switch so you can wire the new switch in the same manner. In most cases, there will be two black wires connected to receptor screws at the top and bottom of the switch, along one side, as well as a bare copper ground wire connected to a green grounding screw on the other side of the switch. There will likely be two white wire ends linked by a wire nut inside the box, unattached to the switch.
- 4). Loosen the receptor screws to release the wires, pulling the switch completely free. Don't do anything to the two white wires that are connected to each other; just leave them in the box.
- 5). Connect the two black wire ends and the copper ground wire from the box to the new switch. Wrap each wire end around the receptor screws and tighten the screws. Wrap electrical tape around the side of the switch to cover all the connections.
- 6). Push the switch back into the electrical box. Secure it with the provided screws at the top and bottom. Set the new switch plate over the switch and affix it with the center screw. Turn on the power and test the switch.
