- Since cell groups meet in a more informal setting such as the homes of its members, members are encouraged to bring their non-Christian friends and relatives to these meetings. Churches with cell groups often have greater growth rates.
- Similar to the idea of Jesus and the 12 disciplines, cell groups are established on the premise that everyone can be a leader. One or more persons are selected to lead the cell group for a certain period of time. By acting as the "shepherd" during weekly cell group sessions, leadership skills and credibility are hopefully gained.
- Cell groups are much smaller in scale than a Sunday worship setting, thus fostering strong and healthy friendships among its members. Members are not only encouraged to share worship experiences during these gatherings, but also the trials and tribulations of their personal lives.
