- The subscription to the Zune marketplace is called the Zune Pass. The service costs $14.99 per month as of 2010. To use Zune Pass, you must first install Zune software and create an online account.
- Users do not have to pay for individual songs or albums, and there's no limit to the number of titles they can download. They can also stream any song available, whether to decide if they want to download it or just to listen.
- Songs downloaded are not permanently owned by the subscriber. As long as an individual maintains her subscription, she may play the songs on any three computers and any three phones or Zune players. Only 10 of the songs that the subscriber downloads each month belong to her permanently without any additional fees. Also, subscribers pay the flat fee each month, even if they don't download anything that month.
