- 1). Turn off all power to your LCD television and computer. To minimize risk of electric shock, unplug the power cords of both devices from the outlet and keep all liquids at a safe distance.
- 2). Insert either end of the HDMI cable into your computer's HDMI output jack. This jack is often found on the side or rear panel of a laptop or on the rear panel of a desktop computer.
- 3). Insert the opposite end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI input jack on your LCD television. This is often on the rear panel of the television. If your television has multiple HDMI input jacks, use the first available open jack. For example, if you have two empty jacks, arranged with one on top of the other, insert the HDMI cable into the top jack. This jack is considered "HDMI 1," and it will be the first option your remote will select when you press the "HDMI" button at the end of the procedure.
- 1). Insert the single-pronged end of the audio cable into your computer's audio output jack. This is the small circular jack on the front panel of most laptop and desktop computers.
- 2). Insert the two-pronged, white and red end of the audio cable into the corresponding audio input jacks on your television. (Insert the white prong into the white input jack, and the red prong into the red input jack.) These jacks are often found on the rear panel of the television.
- 3). Plug your television and computer into the outlet and turn on both devices. Press the "HDMI" button on your television's remote control. This will select the "HDMI 1" input. Your television screen will simultaneously display the image displayed on your computer screen, and the audio will play exclusively through your television speakers.
