Outsource Or Domesticate Electrical Installations?

Electrical installations encompass a large range of electrical activities a person can do in their home, from fixing a light bulb to the more difficult tasks of moving a light fitment, plug socket or rewiring a room.
Either way national statistics have shown that every year thousands of people are getting injured from trying domestic electrical installations that they have no training in.
Even worse, some people have even died from forgetting to do the simple things when starting any electrical installation such as; turning the electricity off or connecting the correct wires in order to get a switch that does not electrocute them.
These injuries and even deaths can easily be prevented by either hiring out to an electrical installations professional or taking an electrical installations course yourself in order to better understand the process you are trying to carry out.
If you are determined to do the work yourself then you should check in with your local college and pick up a booklet on what courses they can give you on this particular area.
Usually prices start from around £200 upwards and start from the basic level one to the higher courses of level 3.
Overall you are probably looking at a £1,000 plus investment from doing this.
However, if you are looking to go into the housing market or into your own private business then this would of course be the better route for you if you have the time.
If, like most people who end up doing domestic electrical installations you just want to save money you may want to think twice before you act.
If you are worried about getting some kind of rogue electrical installations guy coming into your house, asking for money up front and then never returning, you should have no fear.
All electricians are certified and if you are looking for further guarantees then you can always look to the NEIS (National Electrical Installations Standards) for help and guidance on who you should contact to find the best person for the job.
It is however, important that you do shop around and look to your local stores as these people will not have massive overheads like a larger business would and may be able to give you a better deal.
On the other hand the larger businesses make more money and are therefore able to sometimes give lower quotes due to the fact they end up with lower costs per head.
Also remember that guides on the internet may be detailed but they are not there for the average person, they require at minimum basic knowledge and even then it is best to avoid any tasks that mean taking a hammer to the wall as such things as pipe checking are needed first.
So keep both possibilities open when shopping around, not only will getting a trained electrical installations professional pay off in the long run but it could even save your life and your life is priceless.
