- 1). Disconnect the power supply to the Kenmore dryer by unplugging it from the wall outlet.
- 2). Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two screws that secure the front of the control console to the top of the dryer. Do not remove any wires from the control console.
- 3). Use a screwdriver to remove the three screws at the rear of the dryer top. Pull the dryer top forward to release it from the retaining clips, and move the dryer top out of the way. The console can rest on the rear corner between the side and rear panel of the dryer.
- 4). Disconnect the door switch wiring harness by pressing in on the locking tab and pulling it apart.
- 5). Remove the screws at the top of the side panels that secure the front panel. Swing the front panel out, and lift it up to release it from the bottom tabs.
- 6). Reach your hand between the drum and the drive motor on the right side of the Kenmore dryer. Pull the idler pulley down to release the belt tension, and move the belt off of the motor pulley. Pay attention to the belt routing for reinstallation later.
- 7). Remove the four screws that secure the front drum baffle to the side panels with a screwdriver if your model is equipped with a baffle.
- 8). Grab the drum with one hand and the belt with the other hand. Lift the drum, and pull it out of the front of the dryer bringing the belt with you.
- 9). Remove the triangle shaped ring on the top of the roller shaft by prying it off with a screwdriver.

Remove the nut that secures the drum roller shaft with a 9/16-inch wrench. Pull the drum roller and shaft assembly off the rear of the Kenmore dryer.
