- 1). Wipe the over-sanded area with a slightly damp microfiber cloth to remove all traces of wood dust.
- 2). Mix the two-part wood filler as directed. This involves the filler, which usually comes in a tub, and a small amount of hardener, usually from a tube. Use a putty knife to combine the two parts with a putty knife until they're completely incorporated.
- 3). Apply the mixed wood filler to the over-sanded area with the putty knife. The application should be thicker than you need and doesn't have to look perfect. Allow the filler to dry for at least 30 minutes.
- 4). Sand the filler as desired, as if it were a new layer of wood.
