- 1). Determine which type of port is available for external connections on the laptop. HDMI ports are labeled as such and are rectangular. S-Video ports are circular and may or may not be labeled. There will be four or seven prongs inside of the S-Video port, depending on the type the manufacturer installed. The VGA port is a multi-pin port that will have a picture of computer monitor by it.
- 2). Look at the back or sides of the plasma TV and determine which type of these connections the TV is equipped for.
- 3). Connect the cord that is compatible with the plasma TV and the computer to the appropriate jacks on both. Turn on both devices.
- 4). Change the video input on the TV to match the type of cable that is connected to the TV. Some plasma TVs are programmed to recognize the connection of an external video cable automatically. Others require the user to manually change it. The correct video input will have the same name as the cable that is connected to the TV and computer. Whatever is displayed on the computer screen will now appear on the screen of the plasma TV.
