That is just crazy sounding, isn't it? However, most of us think about dieting and living a healthy lifestyle in the same manner.
How many times have you said, "oh I'm starting my diet on Monday, I better order a pizza, bake a chocolate cake, drink as many sodas as I can possibly consume, and hit every fast food restaurant within a 20 mile radius, so I can get through this dieting phase".
You have already doomed yourself before you even started.
You have set your mind to deprivation and failure and you haven't even begun your journey yet.
Life is not a diet, it's not about deprivation, it's not about will power or even self disciplined, at least not 24/7.
It's about consciousness, being responsible, and putting your health first.
I don't know about you, but I still enjoy those delicious food indulgencies.
I've never met a chocolate and peanut butter brownie that I didn't like.
The difference between success and failure when adopting a healthy, clean eating lifestyle is your mindset.
Remember as a child if your mother said, "Samantha, now you can play with anything in the yard, but whatever you do, don't teach my rose bush.
" Okay, come on, now what is the first thing you are going to do when Mom has her back turned? Of course, your going to march right over to that rose bush and you are going to first start off by sniffing it.
Then, you might rub your nose in it a little bit more.
Finally, your going to touch it again and again until the temptation gets so bad and you just might even pluck it off the stem.
It is human nature to want what you are told you cannot have.
Understand that and you will be successful.
Don't start Monday, with a list in your mind of everything that you can't have.
Focus on what you can, what tastes good, what makes your body and mind feel good, and what is going to promote longevity? Picture yourself sitting down to a bowl of dark, crisp green lettuce, tossed with lean strips of skinless seasoned grilled chicken, loaded with green, red, and orange diced peppers, perfectly sliced cucumbers, mushrooms, a few walnuts, and chopped egg whites.
Now, that can be just as exciting as a drop of overcooked, not nearly enough chocolate chips in it, cookie.
You see it is your mind that keeps you from reaching your weight goals; it has nothing to do with the taste of the food, the temptation of it, or the look of it.
It is your mind.
If you change your thinking, I promise you will no longer have the huge temptations that you once had.
One of my favorite foods is pizza.
I love a good Papa John's Chicken Spinach Alfredo Pizza.
Yum-o all the way! Now, let me tell you something, just about every Friday I would have one of these perfect foods delivered to my door.
This went on for about a year.
Until I got my mind straight, now I can honestly have one of this sit in from of me and I can say no.
I can find the same kind of satisfaction with a piece of Tilapia fish and steamed broccoli.
Food does not have the same power over me.
Do I still eat a slice or two of that pizza every now and then? Of course, I do, but only when I really feel like I need it.
However, it is not as satisfying as it once was.
Food is a component of living.
I no longer LIVE TO EAT, I now EAT TO LIVE! Remember, change your mind and you will change your life.
