- 1). Distinguish bins by color. Visit your local department store and purchase bins that are of different colors for easy sorting. If putting a number of bins in different rooms, you may use a specific color for a specific room in your household. You will have the option to use colored bins to go with the color theme in that specific room.
- 2). Decide where you will place these bins. This will allow you to distinguish where you want to label your bins. Bins are a great way to organize your child's room, compartmentalize your closet, and even organize the colors from the whites in the laundry room. Just make sure that the labels are facing outward and are easily visible.
- 3). Using permanent markers, write the contents of the bin onto a piece of tape. Apply the tape onto its corresponding bin. You may find it easier to write on the tape first; then rip it and stick it onto the bin. Sticking marked tape onto the bins is better than writing directly on the bin in case you want to change the bin's contents in the future.
