- 1). Refresh the bathroom with fragrant cotton balls. Add two drops of your desired essential oil to a cotton ball, and repeat with five or six balls depending on the size of your glass bowl. Loosely place the fragrant cotton balls in the glass bowl and sit in an inconspicuous place, such as the back of the toilet or in the windowsill. Choose a fragrance that calms the senses, such as lavender or vanilla, or strong scents of citrus or peppermint to mask odors and awaken visitors. Rosemary or basil are also suitable for bathrooms, as these provide a natural scent to the room.
- 2). Add two drops of cinnamon oil, more or less depending on preference, to each of the pine cones. Place in a glass bowl. Toss the citrus peels over the pine cones and shake the bowl until some of the peels settle among the pine cones. Stick cinnamon sticks in among the pine cones and citrus peels. Sprinkle cloves over the top of the potpourri. Set the bowl on a coffee table or bookshelf. The fragrance should last for at least one month.
- 3). Add water and alcohol to the spray bottle. Drop in 20 to 40 drops of your favorite essential oil. Shake gently before spraying in the air. This spray will last for approximately one month.
- 4). Spray your favorite perfume or cologne on a lamp light bulb. Turn the lamp on to heat up the fragrance, which will disperse into the air.
- 5). Set out a small dish filled with vinegar or baking soda. Either of these household items will absorb unpleasant odors and freshen the air in a room.
