- 1). Pick up the dropped portable DVD player and power off the unit.
- 2). Turn the portable DVD player back on and check the LCD screen for continued fuzziness and distortion. If the screen clarity problems persist, power the unit back off and ensure its AC power cable is disconnected from the power outlet.
- 3). Look around the DVD player's bezel, which is the plastic piece that surrounds the player's screen. There will be several screws on this bezel. Remove these screws using a Phillips head screwdriver.
- 4). Use your fingers to work around the bezel and create separation between it and the back of the portable DVD player's display. Gently pry the bezel off and set it aside.
- 5). Find the inverter board at the bottom of the portable DVD player's exposed screen. The inverter board is the green, rectangular strip that lies at the center of the exposed screen. The inverter cable plugs into a white connector on the side of the inverter board. Check to ensure this cable is still in place.
- 6). Plug the inverter cable back in if it has come loose. Lift up gently on the connector and slide the cable back in. Do not lift up more than a couple millimeters on the connector, otherwise it may break.
- 7). Check the other cable that plugs into the connector on the opposite side of the inverter board. This video cable may also have come loose, which can cause video display problems on your portable DVD player. Lift up on its respective connector the same way you did the inverter cable connector, then slide the video cable back in.
- 8). Replace the bezel of the portable DVD player. The screen fuzziness problem should be fixed.
