- Installing satellite television is a way for people who do not get good network television reception to supplement their existing antennas and other reception devices to get a wide variety of different channels not normally available to them. A number of different tools are required to install satellite television setups and the satellite dishes that receive the signals. To properly install a satellite television setup, you or your installer will need to have access to these tools.
- Coaxial cable is the type of electrical cabling that transmits the signal from the satellite dish to the receiver in or on the television. Working with coax cable requires a special tool that allows you to cut the cable cleanly, strip it back to the bare wire and crimp on the special end fittings that thread into the receiver and into the satellite transmitter. This coax cable stripper and crimper tool resembles a pair of pliers and allows for the clean stripping of the coax cable.
- A security wrench tool allows the satellite installer to properly install the mounting bolts and other specialty fasteners for satellite installation. Because the dish is mounted outside the home and because you do not want unauthorized individuals accessing it or removing it for their own use, special security fasteners are needed to install the device. The security wrench tool will allow you to install, tighten or remove these specialty fasteners as necessary for installation or servicing of the dish.
- You may also need a tool that will allow you to install F Type cable fittings in case the standard coax cable fittings do not work with the particular dish you are using. Similar to the coax cable stripper and crimper tool, the quad F type connector installing tool will allow you to attach these special fittings to the coax or other cable, ensuring a firm, moisture-proof connection that will not contribute to signal loss.
