- 1). Remove litter from your cat's box.
- 2). Wash the litter box and dry it.
- 3). Place the empty box back in its normal location.
- 4). Wait for the cat to urinate in the empty box. If your cat will not use the empty box, try using plastic beads, marbles or another non-absorbent material in the litter box. If your cat still won't use the box, ask your veterinarian about a non-absorbent cat litter.
- 5). Use a syringe to collect the urine from the litter box.
- 6). Empty the syringe into a clean container.
- 7). Place the sample in the refrigerator until you can deliver it to your veterinarian.
