- Your body needs plenty of water to stay properly hydrated. Simply drinking eight to 10 glasses of water every day is plenty and will flush any waste out of your kidneys. Drinking water with your meals will also help as it makes you feel fuller so you eat less.
- If you are not confident that you can resist piling that plate high come dinner time, consider using a smaller plate. Otherwise, simply get smaller portions of everything you normally eat. For dining out, if you don't have the choice of ordering something rather small in portion, just remember that you can always get a to-go box and you do not have to finish every last bite while you are there.
- Start with a filling breakfast then have a light, healthy snack between breakfast and lunch. Have a sensible portioned lunch, followed by another snack between lunch and dinner. A sensible dinner should be your last meal. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
- Exercise -- the one word many people dread. However, to reach your goal, it is important that you exercise. Using weights can help you build muscle while increasing your metabolism rate. So when you shed the excess fat, you will gain lean muscle.
- With a goal such as "losing a lot of weight quickly," it can be tempting to cram everything in to such a short time. However, it's important that you take a day for yourself. This can also help keep you from becoming tired of your diet. Having one day to actually indulge just a little and pamper yourself can encourage your motivation to continue working the weight off.
