- 1). Push the sink's lift rod down so the plunger opens all the way. Grab the edges of the plunger's top and lift it out of the sink's drain. Clean any hair or soap buildup off the plunger using a rag. Drop it back into the drain.
- 2). Tighten the screw on the metal strap under the sink at the connection with the lift rod. Lift and lower the rod on the top of the sink and check underneath to make sure the clevis and lift rod attachment is still secure.
- 3). Use your fingers to pinch the spring clip on the clevis where the pivot rod connects to it. Slide the end of the pivot rod out of the hole in the clevis. Slide the spring clip over another hole and insert the end of the pivot rod through the spring clip and hole. Different holes will cause the plunger to sit at different heights in the sink's drain.
