How to Wire a Teleflex Hour Meter

    • 1). Place the Teleflex hour meter into the dash of the vehicle on which you are installing it. Follow the manual for specific installation instructions, as they can vary by model.

    • 2). Disconnect the battery from the vehicle. Use the adjustable wrench to remove the battery wires from the terminal. Disconnecting the battery will ensure you can work safely without risk of electrocution.

    • 3). Connect one of the wires from the hour meter to one of the hot terminals in the ignition switch. The hot terminals will have either a red or a black wire coming out from them. If you are unsure which is the hot terminal, refer to the ignition switch manual for clarification. Place the wire in the terminal and secure in place with the screwdriver.

    • 4). Connect the remaining wire from the hour meter to the green ground terminal of the ignition switch or from another gauge. Secure the wire in place with the screwdriver.

    • 5). Reconnect the battery. Test the switch by turning on the vehicle. In a couple of minutes, the hour meter will start spinning, showing you the minutes and hours. If the hour meter is not running, check to see if any of the wires are loose.
