Relaxing Between Contractions
Updated March 05, 2015.
This was our seventh baby and our fifth homebirth (six kids born at home but one set of twins). Our baby was posterior and I found it hard to relax during our fast and furious labor. This picture is actually one of me relaxing in between contractions.

Good Labor Support
Updated March 05, 2015.
Kevin is amazing at supporting me in labor. He's very attentive, loving and sweet. He says he couldn't do it without the help of our doula, who takes care of everything else so he can focus on me. Whatever, it works well!

Ouch!
Updated March 05, 2015.
Did I mention it hurts? Because our baby was posterior, meaning that the hardest part of her head was on the hardest part of my back - I screamed at the peak of each contraction. The good news was it was only this intense for a couple of (very long) minutes.

A new baby!

The whole family turned out for the big event! We had all six of the older kids there from our nearly 14 yo daughter to our 2.5 yo twins.

Cutting the Cord
Updated March 05, 2015.
Lilah finally got the honors of cutting the cord. She was nervous, but excited. She'd been talking about this for months. Her dad helped her and she was thrilled. Even the littlest girls talk about how Lilah "cut it out."

Newborn Exam
Updated March 05, 2015.
The newborn exam is done by the midwife. She looks for measurements, reflexes, and checks out the baby's major organ systems from the heart to the lungs and everything else. It's very through, but even better it's done right next to me where I can watch or even help.

Placental Exan
Updated March 05, 2015.
Isaac and Lilah help the midwife do the placental exam. They love it! The best part is probably the purple gloves.
