- 1). Open the trunk and lift up the right side of the trunk liner to expose the battery.
- 2). Disconnect the negative battery cable by loosening the bolt with an 8-mm or 10-mm wrench and lift it off of the battery terminal. The negative battery terminal has a "-" symbol next to it.
- 3). Remove the positive battery cable from the battery using the same method described in Step 2.
- 4). Unbolt the battery strap and pull the battery out of the holder. Take care when lifting the battery as it is heavy.
- 5). Scrape both battery cable connectors with a wire brush to remove any corrosive materials that may have formed. This ensures a good connection with the new battery.
- 6). Place the new battery in the battery holder with the positive and negative terminals in the same position as the old battery.
- 7). Secure the battery to the holder by wrapping the battery strap around the battery and tightening the bolt.
- 8). Connect the positive battery cable to the positive terminal and then the negative battery cable to the negative terminal.
- 9). Replace the trunk liner, close the trunk and start the car to confirm the battery is connected properly and working.
