- 1). Buy a CD cleaner disc. They are less than $10 and are available at any electronics store. There are several brands available (See Resources).
- 2). Turn on the CD player. Take the cleaning disc out of its package and play it. Most CD cleaners come with voice prompts, which differ from one brand to another. Follow these prompts and let the disc run for the specified period of time. Eject the cleaning CD once it is done.
- 3). Play a regular audio CD for at least about half an hour. If it still freezes, follow Step 4.
- 4). Eject the audio CD (if you can). If your disc is stuck inside the player, use a safety pin or a paper clip to push a hole located next to the door.
- 5). Clean the tray of the CD player with an anti-static wipe, which you can get at any electronic store. Next, use an air spray--also available in any electronic store. Insert the straw of the spray inside the tray and spray it at an angle in all directions. Wait for at least half an hour since the spray may have a little amount of moisture. This will let it dry.
- 6). Play an audio CD for at least half an hour. If it still freezes, you must contact the manufacturer if its still under warranty. Remember when you open the CD player, you are essentially voiding the manufacturer's warranty. If its not under warranty, you may want to take it to a repair shop.
