- 1). Rinse your hair and saturate it with water. This will cause some of the diesel to run off, and lessen the concentration of the diesel directly touching your hair and scalp.
- 2). Apply enough cornstarch to your hair to cover your head and hair. Work the cornstarch through your hair from the roots to the tips. Cornstarch is an incredibly dry substance; its properties soak up oil, which will help it remove diesel from your hair. Work it in close to your scalp to get as much diesel as possible out of your roots and hair cuticles.
- 3). Wash your hair and your scalp thoroughly. Use a strong dish soap designed to cut through serious grease. Lather generously and scrub out all the diesel and cornstarch from your hair and scalp. Rinse out your hair completely. You may have to wash your hair multiple times before all the diesel rinses away completely.
- 4). Make an astringent out of half a cup of lemon juice and one cup of cold water if you have some stubborn spots where the diesel won't wash away. Mix it together and apply it to your hair or your scalp. Leave the astringent on for five minutes before washing your hair with dish soap or trying cornstarch again.
- 5). Condition your hair once all the diesel, cornstarch and dish soap is out. The dish soap and the astringent act harshly on your scalp and hair by drying them out severely in order to remove all the diesel. Smooth in a generous amount of deep conditioner and let it soak for a few minutes before rinsing it out. Gently comb through your hair, and let it air dry.
