Major Benefits of LED Lights

LED lights are a more green alternative to traditional light systems. They are far more energy efficient than incandescent and halogen lamps. Although their efficiency and light output may not match that of fluorescent lamps yet, they are moving towards achieving precisely that in the near future.

LED bulbs have a greater lifespan than traditional lighting equipment. A LED lamp would last up to 50,000 hours. Therefore, it is not necessary to replace LED lights as frequently as other lights. They are also much more durable since they do not have delicate parts like filaments and thin glass shells. They can withstand shaking and vibrations quite well, unlike incandescent light bulbs.

The heat produced by LED lamps is much less when compared to other lights. A LED source normally operates at 60°C. Therefore it is quite safe to use and can be handled even by children. LEDs are free from UV radiation, making them ideal lighting sources for precious artifacts and paintings which could be damaged by exposure to UV light.

LEDs come in different colors, making it very useful for decorative lighting. There is no need to use colored lenses to change the color of the light emitted. LEDs naturally emit light in different specific colors.

Since LEDs use solid state technology, the power used by these lamps is extremely low. Therefore, one can save up to 80% of power usage by switching from a traditional light source to a LED light. Since LEDs are semiconductors, they can be controlled by an electronic processor to produce different kinds of exciting LED lighting effects.

A LED lamp can attain its full brightness hundreds of times faster than a conventional light bulb. They are also much more noticeable in the dark. Therefore, a number of car manufacturers are switching over to LED lights for their blinkers or indicators. Most emergency vehicles like fire engines, ambulances, and police vehicles are switching over to LED lights for the same reason.

LEDs are waterproof by nature. They are therefore very resilient and can be used in all kinds of weather. The rate of deterioration is also extremely low. For instance, over the first 1000 hours of use, an LED light would drop in light intensity only by about 2%.

Since a LED tube do not contain pollutants like mercury, they are also very safe for the environment. LEDs come with so many benefits that they are considered the best green lighting source of the century.
