Becoming pregnant is easier for some women than it is for others. Many women who, at first battle to conceive and then research the best way become pregnant relatively quickly afterwards. Here are some lifestyle factors to have a look at and see if any of these may be what is affecting your chances of conception.
1. Do you have a healthy Body Mass Index?
Women who are overweight or underweight have a harder time falling pregnant than those whose Body Mass Index is correct for their weight. Women whose Body Mass Index falls below or above the normal range often do not experience their menstrual cycles correctly - i.e. do not experience their periods each month or do not ovulate normally. Without ovulation, there can be no chance of conception.
2. Do you use any addictive substances?
Substances such as alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine and illegal drugs can dramatically reduce your fertility, by as much as fifty percent. Also, should you become pregnant while using or abusing these substances can harm your baby as well as potentially addicting them to the substances before birth. Also, if you are taking any medications for a pre-existing medical condition, ask your medical practitioner whether the medications you are on has any adverse effects on fertility or pregnant, and if it does, request that they change the prescription.
3. Are you fit?
If your body is healthy and fit your fertility rate will be higher, and the chances of your body successfully carrying a baby full term are greatly increased. Join a gym, or partake in some form of exercise every day.
4. Do you eat healthily?
Your diet plays a large role in conception and pregnancy. Certain foods and nutrients boost fertility. A healthy diet will ensure that all your organs are functioning correctly and that you are able to nurture and care for the baby developing within you once you have conceived. This is extremely important as the baby is completely dependant on the nutrients your body supplies it.
