- 1). Use the rattail comb to part your bangs away from the back portion of your hair.
- 2). Turn the comb around and use the teeth to tease the back section of your hair. Use a clip to hold your hair up in layers, starting at the bottom and moving toward the top of your head, releasing it layer by layer. To tease properly, take the hair you plan to work with and hold it toward the ceiling with one hand. With the comb in the other hand, comb the hair backward toward your scalp repeatedly, using short strokes.
- 3). Use your comb to neaten strands that may have become unruly during the teasing process. Gather the hair at the back of your head into a ponytail. You can place the ponytail at the back, side, or at various heights, according to your personal preference. Use an elastic-covered hair holder to avoid damage.
- 4). Increase the lift of your ponytail by pulling out a small section of hair above the ponytail holder, using the handle of the rattail comb.
- 5). Straighten or tease your bangs. If you decide to tease, use the comb to tease just the roots.
