- 1). Cut the wax into chunks. Melt the wax in a roaster, double boiler or sauce pan. If using a sauce pan on a stove, use low heat. Stir with a wooden spoon or spatula.
- 2). Add color and scent. One block of color can dye up to 20 lbs. of wax a pastel color, so add as much as you need for the amount of wax you're using or the depth of color you want. You can also use crayons to dye candles, one crayon per pound of wax. For scent, add 1 tsp. of oil per pound of wax. Cut back if you prefer a more subtle scent.
- 3). Insert the wicks into wick holders and place them inside the containers.
- 4). Pour a little melted wax into the containers to anchor the wicks to the bottom. Fill the containers one-fourth to half of the way.
- 5). Tie the wicks to a dowel or rod and rest it on top of the containers. This will hold the wicks in place while you pour the remaining wax.
- 6). Reheat the wax if it solidifies too much to pour.
- 7). Let the candles cool overnight.
- 8). Remove the wicks from the rod or dowel. Trim to ¼ inch above the top of the candle.
