- 1). Connect your webcam to the computer with the device's USB cable.
- 2). Click "Applications" on the menu bar at the upper-left corner of the desktop.
- 3). Click "Accessories" from the drop-down list, then select "Terminal."
- 4). Type "sudo apt-get install (name of the webcam application)" at the command prompt. Cheese, Empathy and FFmpeg are examples of webcam applications that you can use to test the webcam. The webcam application automatically downloads and installs on your system.
- 5). Launch the webcam application. If a live image from the webcam appears, it is properly installed and working in your Ubuntu system.
