- 1). Locate the center console cover between the front driver's seat and passenger's seat. Lift it up and release the parking brake to the lowest position.
- 2). Find the adjuster nut on the parking brake rod. Loosen the nut with your pliers. Press down on the regular brake pedal and release it.
- 3). Put wheel chocks in front of and behind the front wheels. Raise the rear of the car with a jack and position jack stands under the vehicle next to each rear wheel. Lower the car onto the jack stands.
- 4). Lift up on the parking brake four clicks. Tighten the adjuster nut with the pliers. Release the parking brake.
- 5). Engage and disengage the parking brake lever four more times.
- 6). Get under the vehicle and look in each of the rear wheel wells. Make sure the drum brake calipers don't move more than 8 mm; and disc brakes don't move more than 2 mm.
- 7). Spin the rear wheels to make sure they spin freely. Put the retaining clip on the adjustment nut to keep it in place. Put the center console cover back in place and raise the vehicle up. Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle to the ground. Remove the wheel chocks.
