- 1). Open the hood. There is a large plastic cover on the top of the engine with a Lexus logo on it. Remove this cover using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.
- 2). Start on the far right coil pack and remove the wiring harness to the pack by hand. Unbolt the pack from the valve cover using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket, then lift it up to remove the coil. You may want to use a slight twisting motion to free the coil pack as sometimes it can be difficult to get loose.
- 3). Unbolt the spark plug using the 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and spark plug socket, then throw out the old plug. Gap the replacement spark plug with the spark plug gapping tool, making sure the gap is .044 thousandths of an inch.
- 4). Install the replacement plug onto the engine in the reverse order of removal. Push in the coil pack until it clicks into place, bolt it down using the ratchet then plug in the electrical connection.
- 5). Move on to the next coil pack to the left and repeat Steps 2 through 4 until each plug is replaced.
