- 1). Remove everything from the deck, including furniture and plants. Sweep off the entire deck with a broom to remove leaves, pine needles, and other loose debris. Wet the deck with the garden hose.
- 2). Rinse out your garden sprayer thoroughly to ensure no traces of other products or chemicals are in the container. Mix 1 gallon of water, 1 cup of chlorine bleach, and 1 cup of trisodium phosphate. Pour the solution into your garden sprayer.
- 3). Apply the cleaning solution to the deck. Soak the green areas with the mixture.
- 4). Scrub the wood with a deck brush to remove the green. Apply more of the cleaning solution, let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then continue scrubbing stubborn spots.
- 5). Rinse the deck well with the garden hose.
