So the first thing you will need to know about on your path to hypnotic master is really how a hypnotic induction is structured so that you know the process is from start to finish, and you have many posts that you know you are going to try and hit along the way.
The next thing that happens is you will typically want to deepen the trance. You want to take the trance that you have and you want to deepen the qualities of it so that you can achieve more of the kinds of things that you are trying to achieve.
Up until this point you are just interested in doing the mechanics, of getting someone into hypnosis or a deep enough state in order to achieve the outcomes that you are trying to do. The next stage is really where the money is. This is the bit where we do the trance work. This is the bit where we do the things we have come here to do:
We influence the unconscious mind, to overcome problems, to increase solutions, to become more creative, to have more fun in life, to just be whatever it is that you want to help the person to become as a result of your hypnotic interactions.
Finally, we come onto the ending of the trance process. We need some kind of process to let the unconscious mind know that we finished this phase of the process and it is time for them to come back to normal consciousness and bring back all the good things that have happened in the trance process into normal, everyday reality.
Some people would like to call the final step the awakening process and that is because they still have these notions inside their minds that someone is, at some level, asleep.
Later on in this course we will give you a little bit more about the distinctions as to what hypnosis is and what it isn't, in particular when it come to the pre-talk. But if you just think back to the stuff you learned on CD 1, you will realize, of course, that hypnosis isn't a state of sleep.
The mind generally just does not go away. People are still aware and still present. So this is why I prefer to call it an emerging technique or the ending of a trance process rather than an awakening from trance because there is no sleep that people are awakened from. It is a personal choice.
You may choose to use whatever terminology that you wish. I am just making you aware of the differences that are out there among different hypnotists, so that at the very least, you can choose which term to use and you have a reason why you are choosing whatever terms you want to use.
