- 1). Disconnect the power cord before opening the Maytag dryer.
- 2). Insert the tip of the putty knife into the gap beneath the top panel in the front of the DE212 dryer. Press the putty knife into the locking clips on the left and right corners to detach the top panel. Lift the top panel up and rest it on the wall behind the dryer.
- 3). Disconnect the electrical connector leading into the door assembly.
- 4). Remove the two screws along the bottom of the front panel. Lift the front panel off the dryer base and set aside.
- 5). Move the idler pulley arm toward the right to relieve belt tension. Remove the old belt from the pulleys and drum.
- 6). Wrap the new belt around the drum. Loop the other end of the belt through the two pulleys.
- 7). Replace the front panel. Replace the screws at the bottom of the front panel.
- 8). Lower the top panel onto the Maytag DE212 cabinet. Press down on the panel to lock the spring clips.
