- 1). Wear safety gear, including goggles, long sleeves, long pants, an apron, heavy gloves and closed-toe shoes.
- 2). Heat the metals in one cast iron pot placed over a gas burner. Warm a second, empty pot on another burner.
- 3). Skim off any impurities that rise to the top of the molten mix with a ladel. Pour these impurities into the warmed pot and allow to cool entirely before discarding.
- 4). Oil and warm the pan. Pour the pewter onto the oiled pan and allow the mixture to cool to produce a pewter sheet. Alternatively, you may pour the pewter directly into a warmed mold to produce a pewter object. Allow it to cool.
