King James Bible - Book of Genesis

Nothing is as grounding to me as reading the account of the creation of the universe and everything in it in the book of Genesis in the King James Bible.
You can't get more elemental than reading that God said, "Let there be light: and there was light.
" Of course, there is the sadness and disappointment of Adam and Eve disobeying God and being driven out of the Garden.
Our consolation in being parted from the physical presence of God is that this was the beginning of the great prophecy that would bring us the freedom of the New Testament.
My favorite events in the King James Version of Genesis include Noah's life and Abram's anointing by God.
Noah stood firm in the face of ridicule for what he believed.
He obeyed and built the ark and gathered two of every living thing.
He and his family survived the flood that God sent to destroy the earth and entered into a covenant with God which we remember by the rainbow that God puts in the clouds after the rain.
Abram, whom God renamed Abraham to show his promise that Abraham would be the father of nations, laughed when God said that he and his wife would have a child.
"Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old?" It was God's will and so it happened.
Abraham's seed was numbered as the stars and as the grains of sand.
He was indeed the father of nations.
These are just two of my favorite parts of Genesis in the King James Bible.
Others include, Abraham and Isaac, and the story of Joseph and his coat of many colours.
Abraham's faith was tested when God asked him to sacrifice his son, Isaac.
There was a happy ending when God intervened and provided a ram for the sacrifice.
Joseph was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and was taken to Egypt where his ability to interpret dreams endeared him to the Pharaoh.
His position enabled him to save his family when they came to Egypt seeking food during the famine that Joseph's dreams foretold.
Genesis is truly the beginning.
The King James Bible reads that God formed man of dust and "breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
" This is the start of man's journey and our relationship with God.
Genesis is ours to study for examples of great bible heroes like Noah, Abraham, and Joseph.
