- 1). Wash the area containing the scratch with warm, soapy water. Dry the area completely.
- 2). Fill the scratch with a material that contrasts with the color of the original paint. Make sure it's something that can be washed off easily, such as shoe polish or correction fluid.
- 3). Sand the area around the scratch with ultrafine sandpaper. Use the material from Step 2 as a reference to know when to stop sanding. Once the color is gone, you've removed enough of the clear coat.
- 4). Polish the area with a rubbing compound to remove the then scratches left by the sanding.
