- 1). Plug the Whirlpool Gold dryer firmly into a functional power outlet if the dryer is not working, and do not use extension cords for power supply. Replace or reset the circuit breaker or fuse as needed. Check to make sure the door is tightly closed and press "Start" after a cycle selection.
- 2). Clean the lint screen, located inside the dryer door, if items are not drying as expected. Find the exhaust hood on the home exterior and clean that as well. Make sure a heated dry cycle was chosen instead of "Air Dry" and turn the gas valve on completely if it is a gas model.
- 3). Sort clothes by fabric type and reduce the overall load size if lint or other residue appears on the clothes after drying. Clean pockets and take out paper, tissue or anything else that may shred during the laundry cycle. Look for small, hard objects if there is a rattling noise while the dryer is in operation.
- 4). Place fabric softener sheets in the dryer at the beginning of a cycle and not the middle if items are getting stained. Waiting until clothes are partially dried can result in staining.
- 5). Close hooks, snaps, zippers and any other fasteners if there is a clinking sound or items are getting damaged or torn during use. Check for other loose items that may be causing the problem inside the dryer.
- 6). Contact Whirlpool as necessary for any additional assistance or with questions.
