- 1). Turn off the electricity to the pool at the circuit breaker box and at any switches.
- 2). Locate and remove the pilot screw at the top of the light fixture. Remove the fixture from the niche by prying the edges of the light with a flathead screwdriver.
- 3). Pull the light fixture up and onto the pool deck. There will be enough excess cord coiled around the back of the fixture to reach the pool deck.
- 4). Remove the glass lens from the fixture by removing any screws or clamps around the lens holding it in place. There may be corrosion on older fixtures so use care when removing the lens from the fixture.
- 5). Unscrew, counter-clockwise, to remove the old bulb. Use the dry towel and wipe out the inside and the outside of the light fixture so that is clean and dry.
- 1). Screw the new light bulb into the fixture. Restore the electricity at the breaker box and turn the light on at the switch for only one second to ensure that the bulb is working properly. Turn the electricity back off at the breaker box.
- 2). Install the new pool lens gasket and reassemble the light fixture. Hand-tighten the lens onto the fixture and ensure that it is tight and secure.
- 3). Submerge the light in the pool water to check for any leaks. There is a good seal if you see no more than a few air bubbles float up.
- 4). Coil the excess cord in the position it was in when you first removed the fixture and replace the light fixture back into the niche. Ensure that the screw holes at the top of the fixture line up properly and screw the pilot screw back into place.
- 5). Turn the electricity back on at the breaker box and test the light one more time. It should work beautifully.
