The medical field is the most useful major for it allows students to choose from a vast majority of careers such as dentistry and doctor that serves as an essential to everyone.
As our world is advancing, the rate of diseases, crimes, terrorism and natural disasters such as cancer, the 9/11 incidence and Hurricane Ike are increasing and are becoming a threat to our people.
Therefore, it is important to increase our health care to compensate for these advancements and prevent the lost of innocent lives.
Not only should health care be implemented in the U.
S but also in third-world countries such as Africa.
Their citizens lack health care so badly that they only take the sick to the hospital when they are poorly ill.
When they do, they'd have to walk for miles just to get to a hospital.
Therefore, if given the advantage to pursue any major, the medical field would be the best in protecting our people and others who are disadvantaged around the world.
Another benefit is that medical related careers are stable, making it the "most" useful field today and in the future because other fields such as engineering and manufacturing are slowly being outsourced for cheap labor leading to many laid-offs.
For instance, many computer engineers at my mother's company have been laid-off because there is cheaper labor in India.
Whereas, the medical field needs direct service so it can't be outsourced.
This makes it a more stable field then the rest.
The medical field is also beneficial salary wise, for medical related careers can earn a person a lot of money.
For instance, an OBGYN can make about 300,000 per year and a serious surgery can earn a surgeon 5 billion dollars.
Despite the large investment and our time to earn a degree in the medical field, I believe that it is worth it in the end because not only will we able to make big bucks but will also be able to save many priceless lives worldwide.
