How to Install the Windlace on a 1967 Mustang

    • 1). Open the door and roll down the rear window on one side of the car.

    • 2). Locate the present windlace installed at the seam between the edge of the headlining near the side windows and the exterior of the doorjamb. Grasp the windlace either at the front or rear, and pull it down firmly to release it from the pinched metal ridge at the edge of the headliner. Continue to pull down on the windlace until you have released the entire length. Remove the old windlace from the car. (Skip this step if the windlace is missing.)

    • 3). Unroll a few feet of new windlace from the roll. Starting at the rear, push the windlace, with the open side facing upward, into the small cavity in the rear quarter trim panel approximately 1/2 inch. Push the bottom edge of the windlace firmly with the heel of your hand toward the top rail of the window opening until you have firmly seated it.

    • 4). Continue unrolling windlace as needed, pushing it into place on the pinched metal ridge at the edge of the headliner until you have fully seated its entire length.

    • 5). Cut the windlace to length with tin snips when you reach the front of the car just above the upper edge of the kick panel, leaving 1/2 inch of extra length to insert into the small cavity on the top leading edge of the kick panel. Push the extra length of windlace into the cavity.

    • 6). Repeat the entire procedure to install windlace on the other side of the car. Roll up the windows and close the doors.
