- 1). Shift the vehicle's transmission into park and turn off the engine. Apply the parking brake and open the hood.
- 2). Loosen the bolts on the positive and negative battery leads with a 10 mm box-end wrench. Remove the leads from the terminals using a twisting/pulling motion.
- 3). Remove the nuts holding the battery retaining bar to the battery box posts using a 10 mm box-end wrench. Lift the battery retaining bar off of the battery.
- 4). Grip the battery securely with two hands. Lift it up and out of the engine compartment.
