- 1). Open the drain valve in the pool's drain system box and backwash the filters to remove sediments and clear the drain tanks.
- 2). Turn on the drain valve and empty the pool about 1/4 of the way.
- 3). Insert a submersible pump into the pool water. Position the drain hose several yards away from the pool where it will funnel water toward a suitable drainage area like a sewer drain.
- 4). Switch on the submersible pump and start draining the pool. Check to ensure that the water flows evenly from the pump's hose and drains away from your yard and the pool.
